Procedure for Dealing with Parent/Teacher Complaints
- All complaints should first of all be brought by the Parent to the Teacher in question and a direct discussion held.
- If this fails to resolve the problem, the parent then goes to the Principal and discusses the complaint with him.
- If problem still unresolved the Parent goes to the Chairman of the Board of Management.
- If none of the above stages resolves the problem, then the Parent formally puts the complaint in writing for a Board of Management Meeting. At this Board meeting, the Teacher in question must be given an opportunity to present his/her side of the case either orally or written.
---------------------------------------------------------
Should a Parent go directly to the Chairman and refuse to go through stages one and two, the Chairman should make every effort to get the Parent to discuss the matter with the Teacher. If the Parent refuses to do this, then the Parent must put the complaint in writing so that a copy can be given to the Teacher.
A meeting may then be held with the Teacher, Parent and Chairman. This meeting to be held in the school, during school hours.
I have read and accept the Complaints Procedure of St. Broghan’s N.S.
